Decorate A Christmas Tree With Your Preschooler

At Christmas time the whole house gets decked out for Christmas. Why not let your preschooler be part of the action. You can help your preschooler decorate a small tree of their very own. They can display it in a window in their room, or on a fireplace mantle in the main room. It gives your preschooler an opportunity to be proud of their own decorating work during family Christmas gatherings or parties.

You can pick up the tall slender 3-4 foot Alpine Christmas trees at a local craft store. Let your preschooler pick the theme for their tree. You can use handmade ornaments, some of your preschooler's favorite toys, or Christmas ornaments. Here are a couple sample handmade ornament ideas you can use on your tree.

Snowball Snowman

What You will need

A clear fillable ornament
Shredded white paper
Red and orange felt

How To Make It
Stuff the ornament with the shredded white paper. Cut out a small orange triangle for a nose, a long rectangle for a scarf, and another larger red triangle for a hat. Make several of this simple ornament for a snowman, or winter wonderland theme Christmas tree.

Other Decorating Ideas

Painting pinecones with gold shimmering paint markers, or white snow paint also makes a great addition to your Christmas tree. Help your preschooler string a popcorn and dried cranberry garland. Let your preschooler cut fun cookie cutter shapes out of construction paper (with your help), then glue a family members photo in the center, and glitter around the outside.
