Preschool Wooden Sandbox

Make a wooden sandbox with your preschooler that has a personality all of its own. Making this preschool wooden sandbox requires assembly of seven pieces of wood and your preschooler's favorite colors of paint. Enjoy quality time building a cool and inviting wooden sandbox is original and full of fun!

What You Will Need

2 four foot long pieces of wood (these will make the long sides of the sandbox)
4 two foot long pieces of wood (these will make the short sides and benches on the sandbox)
1 two foot by four foot piece of wood (this is the bottom of the sandbox)
All pieces of wood should be 8 inches in width except for the bottom, which should be 1 inch thick
Hammer and nails
Preschoolers favorite color(s) of paint
Sand

How To Make It

Step 1:
Nail the sides of the sandbox to the bottom.

Step 2:
Nail the benches to the top of the sandbox on each side.

Step 3:
Paint the sandbox adding personal colors and designs.

Step 4:
Pour the sand in the sandbox after paint dries.

Helpful Tips for Parents

Invite your preschooler to paint the already assembled sandbox. Allow your preschooler to paint using his or her creative touch! The end product is a lasting work of art used during play time for years to come! Making your own sandbox is a creative way to build lasting memories!

Hanging plant hooks can be used to anchor a tarp into the ground next to the sandbox. This can serve as the sandbox cover! Place two hooks on one side, and 2 bricks on the other side to cover sandbox!
